Terms of Service

These terms are an agreement between you and HootQuest Academy for using hootquest.academy (the “service”). By creating an account you agree to them and to our Privacy Policy.
1. Grown-ups only
You must be 18 or older to create an account. You may add child profiles only for children you are the parent or legal guardian of, or have that parent's permission to set up. By adding a child you give consent, as their parent or guardian, for us to collect and use their play data as the Privacy Policy describes.
2. Use a nickname
Please give each child a made-up nickname, not their real name, and don't put personal information into any field.
3. What the service is, and isn't
HootQuest Academy is practice: original reasoning puzzles in the style of common gifted and talented screenings, plus test-taking habits. It is not affiliated with any test publisher, does not use real test questions, and is not a test. Levels are our own scale, not an IQ score, and we make no promise about any screening or admission result.
4. Your account
Keep your sign-in private, and supervise your kids' use. You can delete your account at any time from Your family's data, which permanently deletes everything for your family.
5. Fair use
Don't try to break, overload, scrape or reverse-engineer the service, or access anyone else's data. We may suspend accounts that do.
6. Our content
The puzzles, artwork and software belong to HootQuest Academy. You may use them for your family's personal, non-commercial practice.
7. Availability and changes
We work to keep the service running but can't promise it will always be available or error-free. We may change or stop features. If we change these terms in a way that matters, we'll ask you to agree again before you keep using the service.
8. Disclaimers and limits
The service is provided “as is”. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim (or $50 if you paid nothing).
